Krasnoyarsk Airport Upgrade

Lufthansa Cargo has entered into a strategic co-operation with Russian airline group AiRUnion and Krasnoyarsk Airport, a preliminary step to it utilising the Siberian airport as a stopover point for its services to and from Asia. The companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) detailing the works that are required to bring the facility up to a standard that would permit the German carrier to transfer its regional hub from Kazakhstan. The main focus is the upgrade of the Instrument Landing System (ILS) to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Category II standards. Lufthansa Cargo will complete a number of test flights to the airport during June and is confident that it will be able to use the airport regularly from the end of this year.
