New KKIA Terminal

Travellers using Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) in Malaysia will find improved facilities on offer following the opening of a new wing at Terminal 1. Senior General Manager of Operation Services Malaysia Airports Datuk Azmi Murad said the Terminal 1 building now had 64 check-in counters for international and domestic flights, 17 aircraft parking bays capable of accommodating both wide- and narrow-bodies and could handle 3,200 passengers per hour.
The old wing of Terminal 1 will now be demolished for upgrading works to be started and the entire building should be finished by June next year while the extended runway was expected to be completed by April.
