Ryanair Slashes Stansted Services

Irish budget airline Ryanair has announced a major reduction in its services from London Stansted Airport.
It says it will reduce the number of aircraft it operates from the airport by 40% for the coming winter schedule, and cut the number of flights by 30%.
The carrier added that Stansted was one of its two most expensive bases, the other being Dublin. It claimed that an increase in the British Government’s air passenger duty tax was another prime factor in its decision.
Stansted Airport’s Managing Director, Stewart Wingate, said: “It is common practice for Ryanair to reduce frequency to various destinations during the winter season as they have done in previous years.
“However, it should be noted that Ryanair recently announced it will start a new service to Oslo from Stansted this October.”
