The Houston Airport System (HAS) is to open a new 61,484 sq ft (5,712m2) cold-storage air cargo facility at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). From November 1, Tradewinds Cargo Handling will accept perishable imports flown into Houston from international markets for distribution throughout the United States.
“This new operation adds a needed expansion to international and Houston-based importers and distributors of perishable products,” said Eric Potts, HAS’ interim director of aviation. Tradewinds aims to provide a broad range of import and export value-added services, including: pre-cooling and sorting imports, re-labelling prior to shipment to distribution centres or retail outlets, certified cargo screening for airlines, freight forwarders, consolidators and commercial shippers and onward distribution by air and ground.
