October 21: Reuters news agency reports that a Boeing 707 cargo aircraft crashed shortly after take-off from Sharjah airport in the United Arab Emirates, killing all six crew members on board.
The 707 was owned by Khartoum-based carrier Azza Air Transport Company, which had leased the jet to Sudan Airways. Azza has two Boeing 707s on its books, and the aircraft involved is believed to have been ST-AKW (c/n 20123/788).
