On August 7 the former head of the company that owns Beijing Capital International Airport was executed. He was reportedly convicted of bribery and embezzlement to the value of $16 million according to Chinese state media. Mr Li Peiying, the former Chairman and General Manager of Capital Airports Holding Company (CAH) was executed in the eastern city of Jinan, Xinhua, after the Supreme People’s Court upheld his sentence. His original conviction came in February, after the bribery and embezzlement took place between 1995 and 2003. CAH operates more than 30 airports, including Beijing Capital International Airport, and has assets worth over 100 billion yuan and employs more than 38,000 people.
