ATC Contracts

Thales UK has secured contracts with Belfast International and Cardiff airports for the programme management, supply and installation of co-mounted primary surveillance and monopulse mode S secondary surveillance radars, complete with Eurocat air traffic control (ATC) systems.  These systems will be installed later this year and become operational early next year.  The Thales STAR 2000 and co-mounted RSM 970 S Mode S MSSR radar equipment are state-of-the-art solid-state radars that will feed data into the Thales Eurocat-C ATC centre.  These systems use advanced technology that is continuously improved and updated to remain at the forefront of radar technology.
Belfast International and Cardiff airports are owned by Abertis Airports who manage British airport operator TBI through a company owned by Abertis (90%) and Aena Internacional (10%).  TBI’s network currently covers eight international airports.  Three of these are located in the United Kingdom (London Luton, Cardiff and Belfast International).
