Peel Moves Stakes

Peel Airports, owners of Doncaster-Sheffield/Robin Hood Airport announced on October 6 that it was putting 49% of its stake in the facility is up for sale.  The company also owns Liverpool John Lennon and Durham Tees Valley, but is eager to sell the stake in order to raise cash for other projects.  Among these is a £12 million investment in the terminal at Liverpool.  This will involve new stair and escalator access for check-in passengers at the eastern end of the building and an improved security area, which will be added to the third-floor.
These announcements are seen as a response to LCC easyJet’s decision to introduce additional routes to Merseyside, as well as the possible moving of based aircraft in the future.
