November 17: On the second day of the Dubai Airshow, Boeing announced two major orders for its 737-800 Next-Generation (NG) aircraft.
Air Algerie will buy seven aircraft, bringing its NG fleet to 22 aeroplanes. The airline’s 737s will incorporate the ‘Blended Winglets’, which reduce fuel burn by approximately 4%.
Tassili Airlines of Algeria placed a first order for four 737-800 NGs – Tassili is a 100%-owned subsidiary of government-owned Sonatrach Petroleum Corporation founded in 1997 and will initially use the 737s to transport employees and cargo between large Algerian cities and Sonatrach work sites.
