December 10: Robin Hood Airport, otherwise known as Doncaster Sheffield, announced that easyJet will be operating five destinations from April 2010 onwards.
Airport owner Peel Airports, airport management and tourism officials from ‘Welcome to Yorkshire’ were joined by easyJet to make the announcement, which brought in one of its new Airbus A319 aircraft especially for the occasion.
The airline will operate 21 departures a week on the five routes in the first year of operation, making it the largest low-fares airline to operate from the airport. Services will be to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Faro, Palma and Prague from April 19.
