DUSSELDORF INTERNATIONAL Airport has announced that the new timetables from the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr and the Deutsche Bahn railway systems mean that the airport is now served by 368 daily train services. Introduced on December 13, the new schedules mean that 314 arrive at the airport’s main line station while the other 54 serve its S-bahn facility in the terminal.
“The new timetable shows again that the airport’s links to the railway network are top-class,” stressed Professor Edmund Krieger, head of the Marketing and Strategy Center at Düsseldorf’s airport. “Every three minutes one train stops at the airport – from the S-bahn to the so-called ICE (express train). Now there is at least one through train per hour to Dusseldorf Airport arriving from the network of 128 train and S-bahn stations all over Germany.”
The new timetable provides a direct connection to Dusseldorf Airport for 7.5 million people within a radius of 60 miles (100km) around the airport.
