British Airways cabin crew will not strike over the Easter holidays.
January 20: British Airways cabin crew will not strike over the Easter holidays, says the union Unite. Following the flawed ballot staged just before Christmas when 12,000 staff were asked to vote on a strike over new working conditions and staffing levels being imposed by the airline, a new ballot is to be held from January 25, concluding on February 22.
Len McCluskey, the Unite assistant general secretary said “It was never the intention of Unite and its BA cabin crew membership to call industrial action over Easter. We are making this announcement now so families can plan their travel arrangements in confidence.” McCluskey hopes that talks with BA will bring a satisfactory conclusion – “You can’t fly planes on management machismo,” he added.
