February 17: Vereinigung Cockpit, the German pilots’ union, has called pilots from Lufthansa, Lufthansa Cargo and German Wings out on strike in a dispute over pay and conditions. The strike is planned to start at Midnight on Sunday/Monday and run for four days through to Midnight on Thursday/Friday.
The union and representatives from the Lufthansa Group have been locked in talks over recent days but an agreement has failed to be reached. Lufthansa said that a strike “will appreciably damage the company, its customers and staff” and advises travellers to contact the airline if booked to travel between February 22 and 25.
