March 4: Budget airline Ryanair has announced that it is to open a base at Malta’s International Airport with one aircraft serving 19 routes with 120 weekly flights. New routes to Billund, Bologna, Krakow, Marseille, Seville and Valencia will be incorporated into the scheduled services.
At the same time the airline said that 50 people have contacted them claiming they ate the €10,000 scratch card onboard a flight from Poland to the UK last week, although 40 weren’t even on the plane! The flurry of activity followed the news that a passenger had eaten a winning lottery ticket as the crew couldn’t pay him the €10,000 there and then. Ryanair confirmed that the consumption of the winning ticket made it null and void as the scratch card company is unable to verify whether the ticket was winning one. They will be donating the money to charity voted for in a poll on the airlines website.
Maybe the ticket tasted like chocolate?
