Iranian Ban?

THE IRANIAN Transport Minister Hamid Behbahani has said the country would ban foreign airlines from its airspace unless they use the term ‘Persian Gulf’ on their in-flight passenger route monitors.  He added that repeat offences would result in aircraft being impounded and refused permission to leave the country.  A Greek cabincrew member of Iranian carrier Kish Air was allegedly sacked and deported recently after getting involved in an argument with passengers over whether the name should be ‘Arabian Gulf’ or ‘Persian Gulf’.
