March 17: ATW News reports that pilots from Portuguese carrier TAP are to strike for six days from March 26 over ongoing disagreement on a new productivity plan wanted by the airline.
A two-day strike was held in September 2009 and talks have been ongoing between the pilots’ union SPAC and TAP’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Fernando Pinto. Pinto had claimed that a settlement had been reached in principle earlier in the month, says the report, although the talks were “still quite a distance apart” on a wage offer despite the pilots having been offered a 1.8% increase.
