April 4: Low-cost carrier Air Philippines has re-launched as Airphil Express with the acquisition of two leased Airbus A320-200 aircraft.
The two A320s began operating on March 28 from Manila to Iloilo, Bacolod, Puerto Princesa and Cagayan de Oro in the Philippines.
Airphil Express will acquire 20 new aircraft over the next four years – four brand-new A320s will be delivered between September and November with another four in 2011 and ten in 2012 and 2013.
“We want to position Airphil Express as a low-cost carrier offering quality service,” said David Lim, President.
