April 14: Aviation Safety Network reports that all 103 passengers and crew survived the crash-landing of a Merpati Nusantara Airlines Boeing 737-322 at Rendani Airport in Indonesia on April 13.
The 737, registered PK-MDE, left the runway while attempting to land after a flight from Sorong-Dominique Edward Osok Airport in the country. It overshot, coming to rest in a nearby river bed after striking a bridge. The aircraft was destroyed in the crash, but only around 22 passengers suffered “minor to moderates injuries”.
Merpati operates 18 Boeing 737 and a range of smaller short-haul airliners.
