ChinaEastern to join SkyTeam alliance

April 16: China Eastern airline’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Ma Xulun, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding confirming the company’s plans to join the SkyTeam Alliance by mid-2011. SkyTeam passengers will then benefit from improved access to SkyTeam’s extensive Chinese domestic network.
Chairman of ChinaEastern, Liu Shaoyong, said “For China Eastern Airlines, joining SkyTeam is the just way leading to a globalised market, which will provide wider space for growth. It offers rare opportunities to absorb successful experiences and realize great-leap-forward developments. It provides ideal chances to raise management level, improve operation quality and accelerate the application of information technology.”
ChinaEastern is SkyTeam’s second Chinese partner and serves more than 150 destinations in China and abroad.
