Hawaiian Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330.
April 30: Hawaiian Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330, part of a plan to extend its operations to Asia.
The A330 delivered has been named Makali’i after a revered figure in Hawaiian legend. It was handed over at Airbus’s facility in Toulouse, France with a blessing and a serenade from Hawaiian musicians.
The A330’s operating range of 6,050 miles will allow Hawaiian to fly non-stop to points in eastern Asia and all of North America. The airline will eventually receive 10 A330s, composed of both leased aircraft (as is the first) and those ordered directly from Airbus.
