Frankfurt A380 Trials For LHT

AN AIRBUS A380 has undergone trials with Lufthansa Technik (LHT) at its maintenance facility in Frankfurt.  “After seven years of preparation to maintain the A380 in the future, this is very important for us,” said LHT’s Director of New Aircraft Readiness and Aircraft Maintenance Dean Raineri.  “This is the last opportunity to re-check all our devices before scheduled operations start.”
LHT has invested €150 million in the construction of its A380 maintenance facility at Frankfurt.  The hangar, which opened in late 2008, has been designed with the potential for further expansion and has the capacity to handle three A380s and two McDonnell Douglas MD-11s at one time.
Lufthansa is due to receive its first aircraft as this edition went to press and services will start in June.  Three more are expected this year and four in 2011.
