Major Expansion At IndiGo

THE INDIAN Government, through its Aircraft Acquisition Committee of the Civil Aviation Ministry, has given in-principal approval to the no-frills carrier, IndiGo, to start the process of acquiring 150 more airliners for delivery from 2015.  IndiGo was launched in 2006 on the back of an order for 100 Airbus A320s, 25 of which have so far been delivered, with the remaining 75 examples arriving between 2010 and 2015.  With this approval, IndiGo can now open talks with leasing companies and manufacturers regarding its future acquisition plans.
