Growth at Sheremetyevo

Passenger numbers at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport have increased by almost a third during the first half of this year, according to the latest traffic statistics. The former principal gateway to the Russian capital, Sheremetyevo has been buoyed by scheduled network expansion at flag carrier Aeroflot Russian Airlines and a significant increase in charter services by Transaero Airlines.
The airport handled 8.5 million passengers during the six month period, a 32.3% increase on the same period in 2009 – international traffic was up 25.2% to 5.4 million, while domestic travel grew 46.8% to 3.0 million.
