JFK Runway reopens

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has reopened New York/John F Kennedy Airport’s longest runway after a 120-day closure for reconstruction and access improvements. Renovation of the 14,572ft (4,441m) so-called ‘Bay Runway’ (13R-31L) cost $376.3 million and normally handles about a third of the airport’s operations, including more than half of all departures.
