First new airport in Russia for 25 years

Gelendzhik’s new airport in Russia’s Black Sea resort area was opened on June 5, replacing an old one that closed in 2004.
The new airport links to major Russian cities with Aeroflot, Rossiya, Urals Airlines, UTair, Gazpromavia, Avianova and Atlant-Soyuz. Operated by airport group Basel Aero, it is Russia’s first new privately-financed airport for 25 years and sports a 3,100m long and 60m wide main runway. Handling capacity is eight take-offs and landings per hour and up 140 passengers per hour.
