More Avro RJ85s for Airlink

September 13: BAE Systems has announced that Airlink, one of South Africa’s regional feeder airlines, is to buy four more Avro RJ85 regional jets and extend the leases on two Jetstream 41 turboprop aircraft.
Airlink currently operates a fleet of four RJ85s alongside four BAe 146-200s. The latest RJ85s will replace the older 146-200s in order to bring commonality to the fleet and hence reduce operating costs and will be delivered between September 2010 and January 2011.
Airlink’s lease extension of the two Jetstream 41s, which had been scheduled to return to BAE Systems later this year, means that these aircraft will now continue to remain in service alongside the airline’s additional fleet of 12 Jetstream 41s.
