THAI AIRWAYS International Public Company Limited (THAI) has appointed acclaimed chef and renowned expert on authentic Thai cuisine, Associate Professor Srisamorn Kongpun, to consult on Thai and Asian dishes within its in-flight catering product. Associate Professor Kongpun will share her expertise and work with THAI’s global catering partner LSG Sky Chefs to further enhance the taste and presentation of Thai dishes, as well as some other Asian recipes, on the airline’s award-winning in-flight menus, ensuring its exceptional culinary standards are consistently maintained across the international network.
The appointment of Associate Professor Kongpun underlines THAI’s commitment to serving the very finest Thai cuisine, whetting passengers’ appetites with real Thai food – using authentic recipes, ingredients and techniques – even before their arrival in Thailand. A leading authority on all aspects of authentic Thai cuisine, Associate Professor Kongpun has published over 20 Thai cookery books and is a senior advisor on the teaching of Thai cooking for the Thai Ministry of Labour’s Skill Development Department.
Beginning at LSG Sky Chef’s UK headquarters on August 12, 2010, Associate Professor Kongpun and Mr Chumbhot Thitivongse, THAI Airways’ Director of In-flight Catering Planning and Control, are undertaking a series of culinary workshops around the world, working closely with LSG’s regional station head chefs to further develop and refine Thai and Asian meals within the existing in-flight menu. Associate Professor Kongpun’s knowledge of authentic culinary techniques will help LSG’s chefs to elevate THAI’s renowned cuisine to even greater heights, allowing passengers to enjoy a true taste of Thailand.
