Newcastle is tops, says industry

October 28: The UK’s Newcastle International Airport has been crowned the ‘Best UK Airport’ for the second year running by the British Air Transport Association (BATA).
The award was also determined by the Airport Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and the British Business and General Aviation Association (BBGA), who nominated airports for their excellence in particular areas at the Airport Operators Association (AOA) Annual Conference 2010, held at the Hilton Metropole in London on October 22.
Simon Buck, Chief Executive of BATA, said “Clearly Newcastle Airport has a winning formula valued by its airline customers. We warmly congratulate all the airport team and wish them continued success.” Dave Laws, Chief Executive of Newcastle Airport, said “We’re overwhelmed to be recognised for the second consecutive year as the UK’s Best Airport. 2010 is an exceptional year for Newcastle as we celebrate our 75th year in operation. Our ambition and focus for the year ahead is to improve the customer experience further; it’s their airport after all.”
