New MD For Aberdeen

IN SEPTEMBER Derek Provan took over as the new Managing Director of Aberdeen Airport.
Mr Provan joined BAA as a fire-fighter in 1998, and has worked in a number of high-profile operational roles, notably at Glasgow Airport, where he was Airfield Operations Manager, Head of Security and Terminal Operations and, latterly, Customer Services Director.  He also worked at Stansted Airport, as interim Operations Director.
Commenting on the announcement he said: “I am delighted to be appointed into this role, taking my place within a strong team and an equally strong business.
“I look forward to building on the good work that has already been undertaken providing great service to our passengers and our airline partners.  It is those high standards that make Aberdeen Airport such a vital part of the local community and part of my role will be to make sure that keeps going from strength to strength.
“I would also like to thank everyone for their warm wishes so far.”
Stephen Peat, MD of Airports Division for BAA said, “ Derek will bring a sharp operational perspective to Aberdeen.  I look forward to working with him in the months ahead.
“David Sutcliffe, who has been responsible for the day-to-day leadership of Aberdeen since Kevin Brown moved to Edinburgh, continues in his Operations Director role.  I thank David for his support in recent weeks.”
Aberdeen’s former Managing Director Kevin Brown left at the end of July to take up his new post of Managing Director at Edinburgh Airport, taking over from outgoing MD Gordon Dewar.
