New Quito Airport

A NEW airport at Quito in Ecuador is planned to open in about 18 months and is designed to handle 5 million annual passengers, said Carlos Criado the commercial director of Quito’s current facility Mariscal Sucre International.  It will have a 13,450ft (4,100m) runway that will be the longest in Latin America.  Once it is complete, carriers can serve destinations like New York from Quito nonstop, he added, which is not possible from Mariscal.
