S7 Joins oneworld

ONE OF Russia’s leading domestic carriers, S7 Airlines, became part of the oneworld airline alliance on November 15, 2010.  Its addition will substantially expand the alliance’s network throughout Russia and the rest of the Commonwealth of Independent States.  S7’s network – covering 90 destinations and 28 countries, including 45 points in Russia and some 25 destinations in other parts of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) – is now covered by oneworld’s range of alliance fares and sales products.  This almost triples the number of destinations served by oneworld in Russia, the CIS and other parts of East Europe to a total 84 destinations in 26 countries.
British Airways has been supporting S7 through its 18-month alliance implementation project, as its oneworld sponsor airline, with working groups covering some 35 streams of activity.
“We are delighted to be part of the world’s premier global airline alliance,” said S7’s CEO, Vladimir Obyedkov.  “Becoming part of oneworld is one of the most significant steps in our history and enables us to offer our customers a truly global network.”  S7’s fleet includes 28 Airbus A320 Family, two A310s, two Boeing 767s, four B737-400s and four B737-800s.
