Boeing delivers 900th 777

November 18: Boeing delivered its 900th 777 aircraft yesterday with a delivery of a 777-200LR (long range) Worldliner to Ethiopian Airlines, the first of five the airline ordered in 2009.
Based in Addis Ababa, the carrier is investing in additional aircraft to broaden its network and will use the 777-200LRs on a new, non-stop service from Washington DC to Addis Ababa and new long-haul, non-stop routes like Beijing.
Boeing says the 777 programme has reached the 900 milestone “faster than any other twin-aisle airplane in history”. Current orders will take the eventual total to near the 1,200 mark, with more sure to come.
Ethiopian operates an all-Boeing fleet of 737, 757, and 767 aircraft in passenger service and 757, MD11 and 747 in cargo operations.
