Bykovo To Re-Open?

RUSSIAN CIVIL aviation authority FAVT was due to make a decision in early December 2010 on the future of Bykovo Airport in Moscow.  The facility was closed in October 2010 after the state agency of Federal Property Management revoked the airport operators’ licence due to non-payment of rent, according to state sources.  With the land ideal for property development, the closure was expected to be permanent, but sources at the FAVT have confirmed that a revised tender could be launched in the first quarter of 2011 to find a new operator for the facility.
