Korean Air Introduces Premium Deck

SEOUL-BASED Korean Air has unveiled a unique plan to dedicate the entire upper deck of its new Airbus A380s to Business Class passengers.  It will install 94 flat-bed seats in its ‘Prestige Cabin’ onboard the super jumbos, while the lower deck will be configured with 12 First Class seats and 301 in Economy.  Jae Ho Kim, Korean Air’s Managing Vice President, predicts that other operators of the type will eventually copy the premium deck concept.
Korean has ten A380s on order from Airbus and will receive the first five aircraft during 2011.  The airliner will initially start operating on short-haul services throughout East Asia, but as more examples are delivered they will be gradually deployed on the carrier’s European routes towards the end of the year.  The remaining five examples will be delivered in 2014.
