Hartsfield-Jackson Wins Award

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) has won the 2011 Global and North American Airport Efficiency Excellence Award from the Air Transport Research Society (ATRS).  It is the ninth consecutive year that ATRS has recognised the airport.  ATL was also honoured with the North American Airport Cost-Competitive Excellence Award.
The awards were announced on June 30, 2011, in Sydney, Australia.  They are based on the results of an ATRS study, which is claimed to provide a comprehensive, unbiased assessment and comparison of airport performance.  The study is based on more than 30 measures in categories such as productivity and efficiency.  More than 150 airports and airport groups were assessed worldwide.
Aviation General Manager Louis Miller said he was proud of the airport’s achievement.  “We will continue to operate a first-class airport that meets the needs of airlines as well as our 250,000 daily passengers,” he said.
