Lufthansa Chooses Gatwick

The national flag carrier of Germany, Lufthansa, is now offering double daily flights from London Gatwick (LGW), UK, to Frankfurt from October 30, 2011.
Flights will depart from LGW at 0950 and 1740, arriving in Frankfurt at 1225 and 2015.  The return leg will leave Frankfurt at 0845 and 1625 and land at LGW at 0910 and 1650.  The airline will operate a Boeing 737-500 aircraft which will carry 120 passengers in a two-class configuration.
LGW passengers already have the choice of over 200 destinations from the airport and new options are being opened up to them with the introduction of this new service.  Lufthansa offers flights from Frankfurt to 84 countries so LGW passengers can use the airline to connect to other places such as Beijing and Buenos Aires.
LGW’s Commercial Director Guy Stephenson is delighted with the new service.  He said:  “Around 1.5 million passengers travel to Frankfurt from London each year so we expect a good take up on this route from Gatwick.”
Frankfurt is the largest financial centre in Germany and continental Europe.  With the new service from LGW, the airport hopes to build and strengthen its business travel offering.  Over 50% of the seats on the new Lufthansa flights are expected to be taken by business travellers.
