Saudi Arabian Reduces Workforce

A SENIOR official of Saudi Arabian Airlines has said that the national carrier would reduce its workforce by 5,000 as part of its ongoing privatisation programme.  Abdullah Al Ajhar, Assistant Director General of Public Relations at Saudia also denied reports that the airline had refused to employ Saudi pilots who have completed courses at their own expense.  “They are not pilots but only trainees,” he said.  “They might have submitted their applications just like others.  We have employed some of them, and turned down applications of some others who had received their flying certificates from some unrecognised aviation institutes.”
