SFO Mourns the Loss of Ron Wilson

San Francisco International Airport’s former spokesman Ron Wilson has passed away. Starting out as a part-time construction inspector, Ron worked his way up through the ranks filling dozens of different posts finally ending up as the Airport’s Director of Community Affairs, a position he held for more than a quarter of a century. When Ron retired in 2002, he had worked for the airport for more than 43 years.
“For the last quarter of the 20th century, the name Ron Wilson was synonymous with San Francisco International Airport and its operation,” said Airport Director John L Martin. “Ron’s willingness to answer any and all questions, including the not-so-easy and the sometimes extremely difficult ones, established his credentials as the preeminent public spokesman in the entire Bay Area.”
Ron Wilson would have been 71 on Friday, July 29, 2011.
