Carbon Reduction Scheme for Norwich

Norwich International Airport, UK, has secured an interest-free Carbon Trust loan for a £94,000 (US$152,000) replacement and upgrade of its lighting in the terminal, air traffic control tower, fire station and workshops.
The airport’s energy consumption for lighting in these areas should now lessen by 70-75% with equivalent reductions in CO2 emissions and costs.  The work was due be completed and fully commissioned as this edition went to press.
CEO Andrew Bell said:  “Norwich International is aware that as an aviation business many of our activities impact on the environment.  We are committed to address and manage environmental impacts where possible, and in the context of sustainable development of the airport.  I am delighted that this initiative with the Carbon Trust will reduce our energy consumption with the equivalent reduction being reflected in our CO2 emissions.”
