Offshore Europe Breaks Aberdeen Record

The UK’s Aberdeen Airport saw passenger traffic numbers soar to 67,000 during the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ (SPE) Offshore Europe 2011 exhibition and conference, held at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre.
Over a week commencing on September 3, over 11,000 more passengers used the airport than would normally be expected in September.  The 2009 total during the show was 65,000 passengers.
September 8 was the airport’s busiest ever day for departing passengers, with 6,623 travellers processed through security.
Airport Operations Director Carol Benzie said she was amazed by the figures:  “The team here pulled out all the stops to deliver a first class result and it showed.
It was a great team effort with people from across the airport campus, and from across the many employers, helping each other to ensure we had no operational issues, no delays due to the number of passengers, great feedback and an increase in retail spend across the airport.
My deepest thanks to everyone involved.
