Qatar Airways Fleet Reaches 100

Doha-based airline Qatar Airways has taken delivery of a Boeing 777-200LR (longer range), bringing its total fleet to 100 aircraft.  The new airliner is the 27th Boeing 777 owned by the carrier.
Boeing presented the airline with its new fleet member at a ceremony in Everett, USA, attended by Qatar Airways’ CEO Akbar Al Baker.  He said:  “Since we received our first Boeing 777 in November 2007, the aeroplane has earned itself a reputation for comfort, versatility and reliability and it is only fitting that our 100th aircraft is a 777.
“From an operational perspective,” Mr Al Baker continued, “the 777 has enabled us to pursue our aggressive global expansion plans, allowing us to operate direct non-stop flights from our Doha hub in Qatar to destinations such as São Paolo in Brazil, and Melbourne in Australia, in a cost-effective manner.”
Qatar Airways has a further 13 Boeing 777s of different variants scheduled for delivery.
