inter airport Opens

International exhibition for airport equipment, technology, design and services, inter airport Europe 2011, has opened today at the Trade Fair Centre in Munich.  The show, which will end on Friday October 14, will give industry professionals from around the world the chance to discover the latest airport equipment and services, whether for terminal, terminal-adjoining facilities, runway, apron or hangar.
The theme for this year’s inter airport is “Inspiring Better Airports”, focussing on innovative products and services, such as environmentally-friendly ground support equipment, optimised check-in systems and mobile data solutions.
A total of 606 exhibitors from 34 countries fill Halls B5 and B6, and an additional outdoor area, at the Trade Fair Centre, covering 84,809sq ft (25,850m2).  The show has grown by more than 10% since its previous edition in 2009.  Exhibition Director Nicola Hamann comments:  “While two years ago the airport industry was still affected by the global economic crisis, it now seems that there is a certain catch-up effect, and airport operators, once again, invest in new and enhanced airport equipment.”
The opening and awards ceremony for inter airport Europe 2011 will be held at 11am today in the entrance area of the exhibition, Entrance Ost (East).  The audience will be addressed by Dr Michael Kerkloh, President and CEO Munich Airport, Dieter A Heinz, President GATE (German Airport Technology & Equipment), and Stephen Brooks, Chairman Mack Brooks Exhibitions, the organiser of the show.
Day tickets can be bought online or on-site at €35 or €45 respectively (€55/€65 for season ticket).
