AirAsia X – From Gatwick

AirAsia X has moved its London operations from Stansted to Gatwick, with its inaugural flight departing from Gatwick Airport on October 24.
To commemorate the event, AirAsia X – the Malaysian-based long-haul, low-fare affiliate of AirAsia – is offering customers the opportunity to fly London – Kuala Lumpur for £229.
The airline says that guests who prefer a more luxurious long-haul flying experience can take advantage of its Premium Fly Flat-bed seats from London to Kuala Lumpur for £921.
AirAsia states that its Premium Fly seats are equipped with standard business class specifications of 20in width, 60in pitch and stretches out to 77in in full recline position.  The Premium Fly Flat-bed seats also include universal power sockets, adjustable headrests and built-in personal utilities such as tray table, drink holder, reading light and privacy screen.
AirAsia X says its decision to switch from Stansted to Gatwick Airport is to: “provide guests with a larger variety of connectivity options as travellers arriving into London via Gatwick Airport can conveniently choose to either connect domestically or internationally from its wide range of available flights, trains and buses to get into London City, Europe and beyond.”
The airline adds that with better connectivity to various countries and cities it hopes to bring in more passengers from its feeder network in South East Asia to “visit and explore the vast travel opportunity in London and Europe via Gatwick Airport.”
The carrier’s Commercial Manager, Darren Wright said, “From our first flight into London back in March 2009 till today, we are strong supporters of our London – Kuala Lumpur route and are always looking for ways to improve ourselves to increase passenger traffic in and out of London.  With that being said, we believe that our move into Gatwick Airport will help this route grow as we are now providing guests with greater choices for connectivity, such as better and faster rail and bus connections into London, Europe and beyond via Gatwick Airport.
“Besides that, we will also play our part by continuing to stand by our motto, ‘Now Everyone Can Fly X-tra Long’ providing guests with value for money fares and promotions to entice our South East Asian travellers to experience London and Europe,” he concluded.
From November AirAsia X will operate three weekly flights from Gatwick Airport to Kuala Lumpur’s Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT), increasing it up to five or six flights weekly from December 2011 until March 2012.  The airline says that it is offering exclusive deals between October 24 and 30, 2011 for flights within a travel period from January 10 to March 31, 2012.
