Newcastle Chooses Rapiscan

As part of its upgrade between November 2011 and April 2012, Newcastle International Airport (NIA), UK, has selected 620 DV x-ray screening equipment from Rapiscan Systems.
The 620 DV is a checkpoint screening solution with dual view technology, which, the company says, can generate multiple views of scanned items, allowing operators to identify threats faster.  This improves passenger throughput whilst also minimising hand searches, as cluttered bags can be cleared on-screen.  It is claimed that the dual-view technology can pinpoint potential threats thus allowing screeners to divert such items to a separate inspection area.
The software-based threat detection platform used in the system can also be upgraded, reducing the need for hardware changes.
David Kent, VP Sales EMEA Rapiscan Systems commented:  “[We are] pleased to work with Newcastle International Airport in upgrading their security screening and installing the latest in technology innovation.”
