LONDON HEATHROW’S Terminal 3 reached its 50th birthday on November 13.  Known as the Oceanic building when it opened in 1961 (at the time, the airport’s only other terminal was the Europa building), it has continued to operate as a primarily long-haul facility ever since.  It was renamed Terminal 3 in 1968 when the present Terminal 1 was opened.
