Zurich Goes High-Tech

ZURICH AIRPORT has officially opened its new Dock B area following major refurbishment.  The new facility includes a 7,000sq ft (650m²) premium class lounge for Swiss International Air Lines’ passengers which features designer armchairs, a working zone with wireless internet, and a spacious bistro area with buffet.
The airport has used the redevelopment of Dock B to promote the locally-based national carrier, with the Swiss International logo now prominent throughout the terminal building.
Developed in parallel to Dock B, the airport has also opened a new, centralised security building which uses state-of-the-art equipment to speed up the checking process.
Another feature just unveiled by the airport was the high-tech automated check-in facility.  Similar to web check-in, passengers can select the option when booking flights, with the system automatically allocating a seat and generating a boarding card via email or SMS text messaging.  (ZRH)
