Al Bateen Executive Airport, operated and managed by Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), reported 8,775 commercial aircraft movements in 2011, an 11% increase compared with 2010, and more than a 50% increase in visiting business aviation traffic.  The airport is the only dedicated business aviation facility in the Gulf region.
Steve Jones, General Manager of the airport, commented:  “2011 was a very important and successful year for Al Bateen Executive Airport for several reasons.  Not only did [it] continue to grow its overall traffic strongly, it also managed to attract over 124 new first-time international business aviation customers.”
Mr Jones believes that last year’s launch of the DhabiJet FBO brand with pilot and crew facilities further indicates the success of Al Bateen to date.
Several new businesses were welcomed to the airport’s network of companies and tenants in 2011, including Rotana Jet and Jet Aviation.
The airport’s success is set to continue in 2012 with the completion of the Gate Gourmet dedicated executive in-flight catering facility.  Several refurbished hangars, the extension of the available MRO facilities and development of retail provisions in the DhabiJet and VIP lounges are also planned.
