Mexican air navigation service provider SENEAM has selected Thales’ technology for its air navigation renovation programme for the second consecutive year, after an international call for tender.
The Thales instrument landing system (ILS), associated with distance measuring equipment (DME), will help provide safer landings. Furthermore, the company’s VHF omnidirectional radio range (VOR) and DME will provide navigation equipment for various airports, for both en-route and terminal area guidance.
Thales’ local industrial partner company Amfar will ensure all necessary civil works, equipment installation, training and other logistical activities.
Production of the systems will be completed in the near future at the Thales Milan (Gorgonzola) site in Italy and will be delivered in early 2013.
Vaclav Sourek, Director of Sales of the Air Systems Division in Germany, said: “Thales was already selected in 2010 to supply four ILS/VOR and seven VOR/DME systems to SENEAM and this new contract confirms SENEAM’s confidence in Thales’ systems.”
