New Brisbane Car Park

The largest single-structure car park in the southern hemisphere has opened at Brisbane Airport in Australia.
The $180 million, nine-storey, 5,000-space car park is the first stage of a $250 million upgrade in the Domestic Terminal precinct.  New roads and an elevated skywalk from the car parks are also planned, following the opening of the $220 million Moreton Drive access route in 2009.
Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) Head of Corporate Relations, Rachel Crowley, said that on completion of the upgrade, the Domestic Terminal would have extra road and car park capacity.  The latest addition has increased the terminal’s parking space to 9,000 cars.
She said: “Constructing a new car park and road network in the middle of an airport terminal, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, has been a complex process.”  She added that the new short-term multi-level car park is part of Brisbane’s commitment to providing the best facilities for its customers.
The car park will offer park-finding technology that indicates available car spaces, extra lighting, undercover walkway access to the terminal, CCTV cameras, parking for people with disabilities, 24-hour management, express entry/exit ramps and online booking.  (Image: Brisbane)
