Denver Revises Terminal Design

Denver International Airport (DIA) has unveiled a revised design concept for its South Terminal Redevelopment Program.  This includes the construction of a planned 500-room Westin hotel and conference centre, an RTD FasTracks commuter railway station and improvements to the existing concourse baggage and train systems.  In addition, there will be an open-air plaza, complete with new concessions stands and leasable space, which connects the development to the existing Jeppesen Terminal.
The new design is very similar to the concept that was revealed in July 2010.  DIA’s architectural design team – led by Gensler Architects, along with AndersonMasonDale Architects, has amended the July 2010 proposals to include: reducing the overall square footage; reducing the size of the train station and the amount of structural steel planned for that project; extending the train station platform canopy and slightly rethinking its shape and look.
